Located just a half hours drive from Jerez Airport in one direction and twenty minutes from Cadiz town in the opposite direction stands Chiclana de la Frontera. A typical Andalusian town, in the province of Cadiz. This area is bestowed with stunning beaches, pinewoods and natural park area. Seville, the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain is only one and a half hours drive. The ferry for morocco from Tarifa is a one hour drive from Chiclana with Gibraltar only a further half hour distance.
Chiclana is home to Spain’s best beaches. Overlooking the atlantic ocean, La Barrosa beach covers a distance of 8 km. With its fine white sand and blue flag accolade it is the most well known in all of Andalucia. It has all the services which include vehicle parking, shower areas, security, local police and red cross facility There is a ramp access to the beach for disabled persons and for perambulators. On the main promenade there are ample restaurants, cafeterias, bares and ice cream parlours and there is a good bus service that runs from the hotel areas every 15 minutes to the town centre and back.
A few kilometers up the coast sits the new marina of Sancti Petri with all the popular water sports available as well as schools where you can learn to kayak, windsurf, kitesurf and scuba dive. Boat hire is available if you have a licence or if not you can hire a skipper.
The centre of Chiclana has many amenities and an abundance of important cultural attractions. As well as the commercial centre there are markets, handicrafts, wine bodegas, restaurants, bars, and countless other attractions to draw your attention. The new municipal market has an abundance of fresh fruits vegetables meats and a wide variety of fish and seafoods.
The protected Natural Park area is home to a thriving bird community with a plethora of different species some of which are in danger of extinction. With its long sandy beaches and attention to ecology Chiclana has become a favourite high quality tourist destination.
